Tuesday, September 10 - Tour around Bielefeld
6:30 am
I was woken up by the pouring rain, took a bath, brushed my teeth and got ready. I couldn’t wait to see what the school looked like.
7:40
Sidal, my exchange partner told me that we were going to take the same train as her best friend Nele who is Sabinas exchange partner. When we got on the train we noticed that Nele and Sabina weren’t there so we went off at the next stop and took the next train. Later we got off at Hauptbahnhof and changed trains again, in that train we met Ida, Ana-maria and Tabarak, with their partners.
8:15
When I first saw the school, my first question was ”Why orange?” Even though I didn’t like the color of the school building I thought that the structure was nice and it was cool that they had a graffiti wall. We had a tour around the school, and all I have to say is ”Oh my god! The school is realllllyyyyyy huge, like really really really huge.” I was impressed with how their classrooms looked like, they didn’t have walls between the classrooms but they could still work without anyone disturbing them. I really enjoy the inside of the school. After the tour we got some tasks to do.
Task
We got some objects from the German students that we were supposed to exchange with anything from a stranger that we meet. I started my task in the train but I didn’t have much luck. We got off at Jahnplatz, I had some questions to answer about the place so while answering the questions I asked more people if they had something that they could swap with me, many people either said ”I don’t have time” or ”I don’t understand English”, I got frustrated but didn’t give up until I found the girl who exchanged with me, she gave me her appointment papper. She made my day. We walked around Jahnplatz and Old market, answered some questions and had lunch. Since I was really hungry, I went to McDonalds together with Tabarak and Ana-maria there we met Bekir, Mikail och Siaka.
Sparrenburg
The walk to Sparrenburg was horrible and long but I guess it was worth it. They were rebuilding the castle so it didn’t really look that good. We took some pictures, answered some questions and went into the castle. All I saw was a lot of stairs, to be honest I didn’t really know that the stairs were that many and since I am scared of heights I started to panic, but a classmate gave me a good advise which made me overcome my fear. When we reached the top of the castle you could see the whole of Bielefeld. It was really nice but the weather wasn’t good and I was too scared to get close enough to look down. Afterwards we met our exchange partners and then planned to go over to Nele’s house.
1 pm
Since Mira, Ida’s partner lives close to Sparrenburg, we went over to her house instead. We watched Titanic, played truth or dare and even did makeover. I had fun but got hungry. Mira’s mum had cooked food for us and offered us to stay if we wanted, I wanted to but I couldn’t because Sidal’s mum had cooked lasagna for us so we headed home.
7:00 pm
When we got home we ate dinner, the food was so delicious but I was too shy to take more. I took bath, did my homework, talked to my best friend and my parents and then went to bed..
